The CHALLENGE
Much like most industries, accounting and tax is a highly competitive market. Many large companies come into local markets and eat up all of the smaller businesses. Denver Tax Advisors have a great brand name that helps show up but when they came to us, they had a very small website which limited their ability to rank for multiple keywords like “Tax Advisor Denver” and “Denver Tax Preparation.”
They realized the importance of their website to their goals for future growth in a very competitive market. So, they needed to create a strategy for achieving their goals.
Our research revealed the size of the challenge, including:
- Very little organic traffic.
- They ranked well for their brand but not other organic keywords.
- The was no visibility for their marquee keywords such as “Tax Preparation Denver” & “Tax Accountant Denver.”
- They were not receiving the leads they needed to scale their growth.
In other words, they were not reaching a significant portion of their potential client base.
THE STRATEGY
Dealing with a very small website, Firestarter SEO started identifying keywords and building out pages for those keywords.

A major part of the project revolved around performing strategic keyword research. We needed to find keywords that were relevant, had clear intent from the searcher, opportunity for the client to rank, and the right amount of search volume to justify the efforts.

We then created pages specific to those keywords and built out the content on those pages. After implementing this strategy, rankings skyrocketed for big terms like “Tax Advisor Near Me” and “Tax Advisor Denver.”

With only 2 Referring Domains to speak of when they started. Firestarter SEO had to prioritize getting them listed on as many relevant sites as possible. So we undertook a link building campaign consisting of directories and guest posts.
